Biodanza
Classes in Toronto
Awake and renew your innate human potential with Biodanza at Awareness and Flow. Biodanza was created by Chilean psychologist and anthropologist Rolando Toro Araneda in the 1960s. The name Biodanza means “dance of life”, coming from “bios” which means “life” and “danza” which means “integrated movement full of meaning”. Its theory is rooted in psychology, biology, anthropology, neuroscience and gestalt among other fields. Biodanza is supported by a growing body of research demonstrating that with regular practice, participants experience concrete biological and psychological changes.
Awareness and Flow
“ I sometimes forget that I was created for joy. My mind is too busy. My heart is too heavy for me to remember that I have been called to dance the sacred dance for life. I was created to smile, to love, to be lifted up and lift others up. Oh Sacred one, untangle my feet from all that ensnares. Free my soul, that we might dance and that our dancing might be contagious.”

What is Biodanza?
Biodanza is a system for personal growth that blends music, dance/movement, and group connection. It offers the opportunity to work on ourselves, where each participant can express who they are and how they feel through movement, with minimal verbal expression. Through our embodiment we aim to reach Vivencia, a Spanish term that describes the intense, immediate experience of being alive in the present moment.
Biodanza invites you to step out of the verbal, thought realm and open up to the experiential, exploratory space for change and personal growth.
Through integrative experiences and dances/exercises with music, in Biodanza we aim to stimulate and express our innate human potentials of vitality, sexuality, creativity, affectivity and transcendence.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I pay for my class?
Payment is accepted by e-transfer, cash or paypal.
For e-transfer please send your payment to diana@awarenessandflow.com
What is your cancellation policy?
Due to the limited number of students that we can accommodate in each class, all registrations are final. No refunds. Credit can be used towards the next workshop or ongoing classes. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
Do I need dance experience to join a Biodanza class?
No prior dance experience is needed to join our Biodanza classes. Biodanza is all about self-expression through natural movement, rather than learning specific dance steps. The focus is on enjoying the music and connecting with your body in a way that feels right for you.
What should I wear to a Biodanza class?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Since Biodanza involves expressive movements and dancing, you’ll want to feel at ease in your attire. Most participants dance barefoot or you can wear inside dance shoes if you prefer. If you need, bring bottled water to keep yourself hydrated.
What level of energy is required for this class?
In Biodanza, participants are encouraged to listen to their body and self-regulate. By being fully present, each participant will move and dance in alignment with how their body feels.
