What is Qigong?
Qi is the fundamental life force energy that flows through all living things. Gong is skill, practice, effort or mastery developed through cultivation and consistent practice.
Qigong, a practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years, is renowned for its ability to harmonize the mind, body, and spirit. By combining slow and deliberate movements with mindful breathing and focused intention, Qigong helps to increase flexibility, improve balance and coordination while also promoting deeper diaphragmatic breathing to improve overall lung capacity and vitality.

Qigong Workshop Details:
- 18 Immortals Qigong (Shiba Luohan Gong) is a legendary Qigong set attributed to Bodhidharma (Da Mo), the Indian Buddhist monk who brought Chan (Zen) Buddhism to China. According to legend, Da Mo saw that the Shaolin monks were physically weak from long hours of meditation, so he taught them exercises to strengthen their bodies a deepen their meditation. With aspects of yoga and martial arts, the set improves body, mind and breath and is designed to foster better health and longevity.

- Location: Eight Branches Academy of Eastern Medicine. 112 Merton Street, Toronto, Ontario – 3 rd floor

Dondrub Wangchuk is an experienced Qigong practitioner and instructor with over 30 years of experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine and martial arts. His teaching emphasizes the harmony between the physical structure, respiration and a still and focused mind. Learning Qigong provides a holistic approach to wellness, fostering balance between body, mind and spirit. Dondrub’s classes offer a compassionate and grounded approach to Qigong that is suitable for all levels of experience.

How do I pay for my class?
Payment is accepted by e-transfer or cash.
For e-transfer please send your payment to dondrub@awarenessandflow.com
What is your cancellation policy?
Due to the limited number of students that we can accommodate in each class, all registrations are final. No refunds. Credit can be used towards the next workshop or ongoing classes. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
How long does it take to learn Qigong?
Do I need to be physically fit to practice Qigong?
No, Qigong is suitable for all fitness levels. The movements are low-impact and can be easily adapted to match your physical capabilities, making it accessible for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.
How is Qigong different from Tai Chi?
Qigong is a fundamental practice for cultivating mind/body health, vitality and internal energy. Qigong is a key foundation for the practice of Tai Chi. Qigong is deeply rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and both practices share the same philosophy of balancing Qi to maintain good health. Tai Chi embodies the principles of Yin/Yang, balancing opposites through its slow, flowing movements. While it is also a martial art, Tai Chi also incorporates aspects of Qigong.

Yes, Qigong is known for its calming effects on the mind and body. The practice of deep breathing combined with slow, intentional movements helps reduce stress, improve focus, and create a sense of inner peace.
