Hara Breathing
Therapy in Toronto

At Awareness and Flow, Hara Breathing Therapy helps harness the power of the breath to boost the body’s healing ability and enhance its immunity. This is done by stimulating metabolism and supporting the functions of various organs.  Regular practice will bring about a significant transformation of the person both physically and mentally.

Awareness and Flow

Every time you feel stressed, simply take three slow and controlled deep belly breaths. “It’s a simple act, but this interrupts the fight-or-flight response and puts it on pause. Over time, belly breathing can buffer your resistance to your fight-or-flight response, so you are not as sensitive to stress triggers.”

Mathew Solan, Harvard Health Publishing

What is Hara Breathing?

Rooted in Zen Buddhism, Hara Breathing is a form of mindful breathwork that brings attention to the hara (belly), the center where physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects unite. By consciously expanding and contracting the diaphragm during breathing you stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system enhancing circulation, digestion, energy flow and emotional balance. Practiced for centuries in Eastern traditions.

In our Hara breathing sessions you will experience:

Body regulation

Our Testimonials

J.S

“After a stressful episode, I had a burst blood vessel in my eye. My doctor recommended conscious breathing, but I was skeptical because I tried following online videos without success. Working with Diana online made all the difference. She used Gestalt coaching to help me to move past my shallow breathing and not only taught me to breathe deeply from my abdomen but also to have compassion and patience with myself through the process. I felt immediate relaxation and with regular practice my stress has significantly decreased as I am able to self-regulate with hara breathing.”

R. M

“I joined Diana’a hara breathing class during my zen shiatsu studies. Hara breathing is a Japanese breathing technique that focuses on breathing deeply from the lower abdomen. Diana is a patience and knowledgeable instructor, with a wealth of experience in teaching this practice. She skillfully guided the class through exercises that brought greater awareness to our lower abdomen and the breathing process. By the end of the sessions, I felt more relaxed, energized and deeply connected to my breath. I have since incorporated Hara breathing into my daily routine and it has made a positive impact on my overall wellbeing.”

D. B.

“Diana me ayudó a entender la importancia de la respiración y a realizar ejercicios para utilizarla como herramienta para controlar el estrés y la ansiedad. Muy rápidamente logré reducir la presión que sentía en el pecho y conectar más profundamente con mi cuerpo. Diana tiene herramientas muy valiosas que me están ayudando a mejorar mi calidad de vida.”
